Food & Drink Team Building Activities

Food and drink team building is the easy win when you want people relaxed and talking rather than competing: the team makes something together, then sits down and enjoys it. Think pizza and chocolate making, cocktail classes, bakeathons and paint and sip, each led by a chef or bartender, either at a venue we book for you or brought to your own office.

Funktion Events has run more than 10,000 team building events since 2007, and we sort the whole thing anywhere in the UK, from booking a pizzeria in town to setting up in your own boardroom, ingredients and equipment included. Pizza making is the activity teams book most, closely followed by chocolate making, but the range runs from a lively cocktail masterclass in a bar to a calm afternoon tempering artisan chocolate.

Food & Drink Team Building Activities

Some come to your office and some are hosted at a city-centre pizzeria or bar we line up for you, but a chef or bartender leads every one and the food, drink and kit are all handled. Here is what teams take on, ordered by what gets booked most:

Swipe to see what you do and what it suits →

Activity Type What you do Best for
Pizza Making Food Stretch and top your own dough at a pizzeria with prosecco and nibbles, then sit down and eat what you make Mixed groups who want the activity and a meal in one
Chocolate Making Food Temper, mould and decorate your own box of chocolates to take home Quieter teams who would rather not compete
Cocktail Making Drink Muddle, shake and strain classics like a mojito or espresso martini in a stylish bar A social night out in a cocktail bar
Bakeathon Food Take on timed Bake Off-style rounds judged by an expert chef, no experience needed Teams who fancy themselves as star bakers
Paint & Sip Drink Paint two canvases to keep, drink in hand, at a private venue Switching off after a heavy quarter
Mobile Cocktail Making Drink Bartenders bring the whole bar, glassware and ice to your office or event venue Bringing the bar to your office, conference or evening do
Nutrition Workshop Wellbeing A practical, myth-busting nutrition session led by expert naturopaths Wellbeing days and healthier team habits

Two more on the grid come with drinks built in but sit closer to a social day out: the Smartphone Pub Treasure Hunt works its way round the local pubs with drinks as you go, and the Party Bike tours the city with beer, wine or soft drinks on board. If a sociable, drink-in-hand outing is more the mood than a class, start with those.

Cooking & Baking Team Building Classes

A cooking team building class is the most hands-on option here: your team cooks or bakes something real, together, then eats it. Pizza making is the most-booked cooking class we run, hosted at a proper pizzeria where a pizzaiolo shows everyone how to stretch, top and fire their own dough; the Bakeathon is our timed Bake Off-style challenge judged by an expert chef; and chocolate making swaps the oven for tempering and decorating your own box of chocolates.

The difference between us and a cookery school is that you are not tied to one kitchen in one city. We either bring the activity to your office or book a pizzeria or bar near you, so you are not the one ringing round venues, and the whole team can take part without losing half a day to travel.

Cocktail & Drinks Team Building

If you would rather shake than bake, the drinks side is just as popular. A cocktail masterclass puts your team behind the bar of a stylish city-centre venue with a professional bartender, learning to muddle, shake and strain classics like a mojito or an espresso martini, with games and a friendly competition to finish. Prefer the bar to come to you? Mobile Cocktail Making brings the whole bar, glassware and ice to your office or a venue we have set up, so it slots neatly in after a conference or into the start of an evening do. Paint and Sip pairs two canvases with a drink for a more laid-back creative afternoon.

Creative Team Building

Several of these double as creative team building, where the point is making something by hand rather than winning. Chocolate making and Paint and Sip give a quieter team a calmer afternoon making something by hand, with something to take home at the end. If your team leans more towards arts and crafts, tell us what you have in mind and we will suggest the right creative activity.

You can also give the day a charitable twist. Our Charity Cook Off for Good has teams cook a proper meal that is then donated to a local food bank, so the afternoon feeds a good cause as well as the team. It sits alongside the rest of our charity team building activities.

Izzie - Corporate Event Manager

“Food and drink days are the ones nobody sits out. There is no winning or losing to worry about, so even the quiet members of the team relax once there is dough to stretch or a cocktail to shake. Tell me your group size and whether you want cooking, cocktails or something calmer, and I’ll match the activity and sort a venue if you need one.”

Food & Drink Team Building FAQs

Food and drink team building activities are hands-on sessions where a team cooks, bakes or makes drinks together, led by a professional chef or bartender. Popular options include pizza making, chocolate making, cocktail masterclasses and Bake Off-style challenges. They bring the team together in a relaxed, social way, with something to enjoy at the end.
Pizza making is the food and drink activity teams book most with us, with chocolate making close behind. Cocktail making is the most popular option on the drinks side. If you want a safe crowd-pleaser that suits almost any group, pizza making is the one to start with.
Yes. Tell us about any allergies or vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free or other dietary needs when you book and our chefs cater for them. Every food and drink activity can be adapted, and the cocktail classes always include alcohol-free versions so nobody is left out.
It works both ways. Activities like mobile cocktail making, chocolate making and the Bakeathon come to your office or meeting room with everything brought in. Others, like pizza making and cocktail making, are hosted at a pizzeria or bar that we arrange for you through our free venue finding. Tell us what suits your team and we will sort the space at no extra cost.
None at all. Every activity is led by a professional chef or bartender who guides the team through each step, so complete beginners and confident cooks all get involved and enjoy it. The point is taking part together, not skill.
Most food and drink activities run for around two to three hours, so they fit neatly into a half day, an away day or the afternoon of a conference. We can flex the timing around your agenda and group size, and add a sit-down meal or drinks afterwards if you want to make more of it.
These activities scale from a small team of a dozen up to several hundred, run in parallel groups for the larger numbers. Tell us your headcount and we will set it up so everyone is stuck in rather than watching.
Prices depend on which activity you pick, how many are coming and whether a venue is needed. Share your headcount and date and your event manager will send a clear, no-obligation quote, usually inside 30 minutes during working hours.
