Just outside Northampton’s city centre you’ll find Bridge Street, a great place for late nights and partying until the early hours. This street is chock full of bars to visit, with some being the perfect place for a night out with a difference. Trust us, you might be pleasantly surprised with what Bridge Street and Northampton in general has to offer a last night of freedom!

A shining example of this is NB’s nightclub, situated right at the cross of Bridge Street and Angel Street. One for the younger crowds, you’ll find a good-sized venue set with a bar, DJ sets for every weekend and sharing cocktails that are lethal to a group of lads. NB’s is sure to have you reliving your uni days – fishbowl anyone?

Abington Square

If you’re looking to venture outside of the city centre, take a trip around Abington Square and explore some of the hustle and bustle there when the sun goes down. There’s a few hidden gems around here, and it’s a great place to visit if you want to experience authentic Northampton rather than the big chain bars.

One venue that will give you a great introduction to what the nightlife in the Square is like is Bar So, a lively bar that has claimed to be one of the best nights out in the city (pretty big stuff right?) If you want a proper silly night, you can find the best of 90s music nights, DJ sets and even karaoke if that’s up your alley! For something a bit more chilled, The Black Prince pub has been a huge hit since it opened. This tardis-like venue has all the traditional pub qualities with a covered outdoor area that might take you by surprise.

Wellingborough Road

A bar crawl on Wellingborough Road will provide all the stags a night to remember. We’ll be straight with you that Wellingborough Road is massive! You night need to dedicate two nights or maybe a little lads reunion to complete the beast, but that’s part of the Northampton nightlife fun. With plenty bars to visit and food shops to grab a drunken nibble along the way, what’s not to love?

If you want a bit of grub and a good cocktail (nothing wrong with that lads), Meanwhile Bar is a new stylish cocktail and tapas bar that has an extensive drinks menu that is guaranteed to tickle the fancy of any groom. Better still, it’s set between a few different pubs so you can drink yourself into a mini beer coma before having some chorizo to fuel you way into the night.

Flagging Meanwhile Bar you’ll find the Crown and Cushion, a great pub for a chilled drink or meeting up with the guys at the start of the evening. As well as a cosy indoors, there’s also a sizable beer garden to enjoy when the weather is good.

Modernised traditional pubs are on the rise, and Northampton has really hopped on the bandwagon for reinvented well-loved pubs, taverns and inns to make sure they live on in Wellingborough Road. One great example of this is the Old House. There are pool tables to keep the lads entertained as they sip on mouth watering craft beers in this vintage pub. If you’re fancying a day drink or two, there is an outdoor garden area that is stunning in the sun.
