Keswick

For the feel of a big city night out without the high prices and busy city life, Keswick is your best bet. From Bank Street right the way round to St John’s Street and Lake Road you will find an abundance of pubs, real ales, cask ales you name it! This little town packs a punch on the nightlife scene, mainly because it’s home to The Loft Nightclub. If you’re looking for somewhere with a party atmosphere rather than a traditional pub, this nightclub late bar offers an extensive drinks menu and reserved areas if you want to make the night that little more special.

Cockermouth

However, you’re imagining a night in the Lake District, that’s probably what you’ll find in picturesque Cockermouth. cask ale pubs, interesting taverns and ancient inns await you all down main street. After a jam-packed day of action and adventure activities, then a few pints is exactly what you need. A hotspot for Cockermouth is the Black Bull Inn, which features low beams and open arms for any weary traveller around.

Just down the road from the Bull Inn is the ever-popular Brown Cow, which is great for a combo of good pub grub and proper ales if that’s your type of thing. Top tip – they have a wicked pub quiz that would be perfect to start the night off on a funny foot!

Penrith

This little town just outside the national park is brimming with history, mainly history within the pubs which is convenient for you guys! The Board & Elbow is one of Penrith’s best  pubs, with reviews that will blow your socks off just for a little pub. Go for some grub, have some beers or get a round of shots in, anything goes here.

If you’re a fan of a family run boozer, The Beehive Inn is a great shout for a group of guys just wanted a few chilled drinks. Better still, they have a massive beer garden that we think is perfect for a bit of day drinking if that’s your thing.

Kendal

You might be surprised to see how much Kendal has to offer, and it’s probably one of the more popular towns to head to after a day filled with water sports and ghyll scrambling around the Lakes. While you’re here, visit Kendal’s oldest surviving pub Ye Old Fleece Inn for a thoroughly authentic pint in the English countryside. For something more modern (and stocked with gin), head over to Smokies Bar and enjoy the younger vibe there.
