How to Stay Safe on the Hen Weekend

Staying Safe on the Hen Do

Whether you’re staying in your hometown, heading to another city in the UK, or heading to one of Europe’s party paradises,

We think you should take a few precautions to ensure you have a fantastic celebration! A party is the perfect opportunity for all the girls to get together and celebrate the upcoming big day for the bride-to-be. However, no matter if you’re heading to the continent or staying in the country for your celebrations, there are a few ways to ensure you all stay safe whilst having a great time.

How Can You Stay Safe on the Hen Weekend?

Staying safe should be the group’s top priority on the weekend, no matter where or how you spend it. By following the advice and useful tips we’ve listed for you below, you can ensure that everybody has an unforgettable time while making sure everybody is happy and having a great time.

1. Drink Responsibly

This is probably the most important piece of advice, but one that is overlooked more often than not. We know that alcohol and pre-wedding celebrations come hand-in-hand almost all of the time, but that doesn’t mean that you need to overdo it! Keeping to a limit and drinking responsibly doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time… and you’ll want to remember everything that happened on the weekend, right?

2. Eat Well

If you’re going out drinking until the early hours of the morning, you and the girls are going to need to line your stomachs first! Although this is common knowledge, staying well fed throughout the weekend, especially if you have lots of things planned, should always be a top priority.

3. Forget Peer Pressure!

Although it isn’t something that many people consider, don’t feel pressured to do anything you’re uncomfortable with on the weekend. Whether you’re a light drinker or not familiar with everybody in the group enough, sticking to your guns and knowing your limits is always a good idea… but don’t let it stop you from letting your hair down and having a great time!

4. Legitimate Activities

With so many choices out there when it comes to choosing who to trust with booking your party activities, it can be not easy to find a reputable company where you know everything is legitimate. With Funktion Events, however, you’ll be happy to know that all of our suppliers are verified, tried & tested. Not only that, but we’ve received thousands of 5-star Trustpilot reviews, so you know exactly what you’re getting with your booking!

5. Personal Safety

Keeping an eye on your valuables and staying aware of your personal safety is probably the most important point to make. Putting your money somewhere secure that you won’t forget should be one of your first things! Also, ensure that your phone is fully charged and your ID is somewhere secure. This may seem like common sense, but we’ve all done it!

When out and about, especially in busy venues like bars and nightclubs, there’s always an unfortunate chance that drink spiking could take place. Ensuring you or anybody else in the group doesn’t leave their drinks unattended is massively important. 6. Financial Protection

Of course, the party is the perfect time to celebrate and have fun. But should the worst happen, you need to know that you’re financially covered by UK laws and regulations so that you don’t end up at a loss.

Funktion Events is an ABTA bonded stag & event company, meaning that in the worst case scenario, you can be assured that your booking is financially covered. Whether you’re staying in your home town or heading to Europe, your booking will be secure either way.

7. Stick Together

The weekend is the time where all the girls celebrate together, so making sure that everybody stays with the group should be a big concern, especially if you’re travelling to an unfamiliar city or country for your celebrations. With alcohol thrown into the mix on a night out, it can be easy to loose people in your group. Taking precautions such as arranging an emergency meeting point is a great idea should you get split up.

8. Fancy Dress

One thing that everybody associates with the usual party is, of course, fancy dress. While most nightclubs and bars are very welcoming to stag and party groups that arrive to their venues in fancy dress, others may not be so keen. Keep this in mind if you have a theme planned for your celebrations, and try to check a venue’s dress code before arriving to avoid any unexpected disappointment!

9. Get Educated

If you and the girls have decided to head to Europe for your weekend, then you’re in for a fantastic time. However, although the continent is generally safe and a great place to visit, it’s always a good idea to check some information on local laws and regulations before travelling. For example, smoking laws can vary from country to country, even within the European Union.

In terms of etiquette, some countries are more welcoming to rowdy group parties than others! Where cities like Berlin and Amsterdam see thousands of drunk British party-goers, other places may not take so lightly to drunken shenanigans in the early hours of the morning!

10. Have the Essentials

This is especially important if you’re heading abroad for your weekend, but is also a good thing to do even if you’re staying close to home. Having records of your hotel or accommodation’s address/room number, phone numbers for everybody in the group (including emergency contact details) and any other important contact details you may need is a good precaution to put in place.

Best of all, you can put all of these onto one piece of paper or a note in your phone and not have to worry about it for the rest of the weekend!

11. Research the Area

If you girls are travelling to somewhere completely new for your weekend, then you’re going to want to do and see as much as you can before you go! Not only is this a good idea for planning what you’re going to do on your trip, but it’s also a great way to stay safe. Check online where’s best for stag and parties, where to avoid and what there is to do around the city.

12. Don’t Lose Your Hens!

As we’ve mentioned above, making sure all the girls stick together on the party weekend is extremely important, especially abroad. One way to make sure that everybody stays aware of where people are is by wearing something distinctive! This doesn’t even need to be anything over-the-top either, so if you’re not planning on having a fancy dress theme for your party, why not check out our hen party t-shirts list for some customisable inspiration?

13: Check Your Accommodation

Whether you’re staying in a city centre hotel or a large party apartment or house, checking that your accommodation is safe and secure should be one of the first things you do on arrival. Before kicking off the celebrations, make sure that all windows and doors open and close properly and that everything has stable and secure locks. This way, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that all your belongings back at your accommodation are safe and sound, leaving you to press on with the party shenanigans!
