What is a Behavioural Analysis Test?

In a nutshell, these tests analyse and measure behavioural responses to real-world work scenarios. The way in which a candidate responds to the questions is intended to highlight their individual skills, abilities and knowledge of the job role. The questions can be formatted in a number of ways, such as "Most Likely" & "Least Likely".

These factors give employers a clearer picture of the personality behind the answers and gives them an idea of how that potential employee will fit in with the existing workforce. After all, you can recruit the most skilled individual possible, but if cohesion with the rest of the time isn’t there, problems can arise.


Why are Behavioural Analysis Tests Important?

Especially since the Coronavirus Pandemic, the majority of large companies have migrated over to digital recruitment processes, as opposed to face-to-face interviews and the like. Of course, the length of the test and the depth of the questions will vary depending on the job and company. For example, some big-name supermarkets in the UK use notoriously difficult tests to hire candidates, based on a huge variety of customer-related scenarios.

On the other hand, some companies will only want to know the candidate’s job history and basic information. This is often the case with new businesses and/or those that offer in-depth, on-the-job training, such as customer service.
