Places to Eat in Chester

Throughout the city you will find an endless list of incredible restaurants of all different cuisine perfect for a Chester hen party. See our awards for the best restaurants in Chester. One of the most known dining experiences is Opera Grill, due to the fact that it’s located inside a Grade II listed space that can fit over 400 guests to enjoy some classic grill dining!

For your pastas and pizzas, we would highly recommend Piccolino, sitting just across the road from Opera Grill, this Italian is decorated beautifully with fairy lights draped across all the windows. La Fattoria is another perfect for your Italian dishes but with exposed brick walls throughout the restaurant rather than fairy lights.

Known for its incredible outdoor space, The Architect is your perfect go to pub during the summer months if you’re after some modern British food whilst you enjoy the sun. Perfect for large groups is Bar Lounge, again with some incredible outdoor space that is lit up during the evening.

Watergate Street

Watergate Street as a whole is an experience in itself, you can easily find something perfect for your hen do in Chester. For a classic pub the main one on this street is Ye Olde Custom House but if the pub vibes not for you just around the corner is the famous Bar Lounge, with some incredible indoor and outdoor seating that is suitable for any group size you will easily be able to fit your group in and order a Pornstar Martini in no time!

Hoole

Just outside of the city centre is Hoole and if you find yourself around this area then the place to go is definitely The Suburbs. Known for its award winning cocktails, The Suburbs will provide you with a unique experience that is perfect for a hen weekend in Chester!

Best Bars in Chester

Throughout the city there are also some hidden gems and if you know them they can transform your hen party in Chester! First up is Oddfellows, situated on Lower Bridge Street and known for being a boutique hotel it also has a well-known garden bar with fire pits along with a cocktail bar and rooftop terrace. You may know about Liquor and Co. but the thing that makes this a hidden gem is the fact that there is a hidden bar…just ask for the caretaker…

Pepper Street & St Johns Street

This is a night out by itself. Opera Grill is not only famous for being a restaurant but also an incredible bar, if you’re after a sophis­ticated drink this is the place to go. Some nights they even have live music! Or head across the way to All Bar One, another bar that has a quirky décor and cocktails. Whilst you’re around this area The Church is definitely one to head to, inside a historic church building (hence the name) this venue is perfect for drinking, dining and dancing!

Head over to St Johns Street and you’ll find Off the Wall, perfect for some good prices drinks, bar games and a dance floor! And to finish the night off you could head to Cruise, the main nightclub in the city centre. Also Red Door, again you’ll see the big red door along St Johns Street, as you head down the stairs you’ll be inside a venue that is perfect for groups with its spacious booths and amazing cocktails.

Riverside

The River Dee runs through Chester and along it you’ll find places to eat, drink, sit and enjoy an ice cream and enjoy a boat cruise.

Getting Around Chester

Make your way there by train, bus or even car as there are plenty of car parks throughout the city. Chester is an ideal location for a hen weekend due to the fact that if you wanted you could walk to everything you needed in the city centre.

You can get from A to B through the cobbled streets or along the historic walls. There is also a Hop-on Hop-off bus tour that can take you to all the top sightseeing locations. As well as a Bus Interchange that can take you throughout the city and beyond – even to Chester Zoo!
