One of the most popular nightclubs in the country, Escape Amsterdam has been a long-standing favourite in the Amsterdam nightlife scene since opening back in 1986. Since then, it has undergone three huge renovations but still managed to keep up to date with the rest of the city’s best hotspots. 6. Warehouse Elementenstraat
Another amazing club space in the city’s formerly industrial north-west area, Warehouse Elementenstraat is a legendary hotspot for underground house music raves in the city, first hosting events back in the 1990s. Since being re-discovered in recent years, the venue has been used to host some of the biggest and best parties in Amsterdam. The venue also hosts events during the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) Festival, an annual celebration of techno and house music that hosts rave nights throughout the week.

7. Club Mystique
Formerly a gym and then a cinema before becoming one of Amsterdam’s top clubbing spaces, Club Mystique is an authentic Latin-themed bar and club that has been previously nominated for the World’s Best Bars list. Named after the iconic venue in Miami, Florida, this nightclub hosts regular salsa, merengue and other Latin-themed dance nights. 11. De Marktkantine
Meaning “The Market Cantine” in English, De Marktkantine was originally built for traders at the nearby market until it was turned into a restaurant in the 1950s and again into a nightclub in the 1990s. Since its re-opening in 2014, this huge 3000-square foot venue has become one of the best places to enjoy unique and eclectic DJ sets in the Dutch capital, bringing in guest DJs from all over the country and the rest of the world.

12. De School
A former technical college to the west of the city, De School Amsterdam is way more than just a nightclub! With a 24-hour license and open every day of the week, you can come here to enjoy the venue’s gym, restaurant, café or exhibition space, with regular events taking place. By night, the former school’s bicycle storage area is transformed into a vibrant clubbing space that focuses especially on hosting up-and-coming local DJs… although they do host some international guest DJs on occasion!

13. JACK Amsterdam
One of the newer venues on this list, JACK Amsterdam is an unsuspecting venue situated on a rooftop amongst towering office buildings to the east of the city, near the iconic Bijlmermeer and just a 10 minute walk from Amstel train station. Describing itself as a creative and forward-thinking establishment, you’ll find mostly electronic dance and house music played here each weekend when the club opens.
