Go Karting Stag Do
Go karting puts the stag group behind the wheel of real racing karts for a head-to-head race that settles who's actually quick on the track and who just talks a good game. After a safety briefing from instructors and a practice lap, it's straight into competitive racing between the boys. Protective overalls are provided, so it's worth dressing down. Why Go Karting Works for Stag Groups
Go karting works because it's a genuine competition with a result everyone can see, recorded in black and white on the lap times. The lad who's useless at football might turn out to be the fastest on the track, while the one who talks himself up the most often ends up at the back of the pack. The numbers don't lie, which makes for plenty of banter once the session ends. There's also a podium moment built in for the quickest driver of the day, which makes for a good photo to look back on. For a groom who fancies himself behind the wheel, it's a chance to prove it on a proper track instead of just the motorway.
What Happens on a Go Karting Stag Do
The session starts with a safety briefing from instructors, covering the kart controls and the rules of the track. Everyone gets kitted out in protective overalls before heading out for a practice lap to get a feel for the kart and the circuit. Once everyone's comfortable, it's race time, with karts going head-to-head over a timed session that usually runs around two hours including the briefing and practice. Lap times are tracked throughout, and the fastest driver on the day picks up the trophy and bubbly at the end. All racing equipment is provided, so the boys just need to turn up ready to drive.
Where Does a Go Karting Stag Do Take Place?
Go karting is hosted at tried and tested tracks across the country, both indoor and outdoor, usually a short drive from the centre of your chosen city. It's available in Manchester and Newcastle, both popular bases for a stag weekend with plenty to do once the racing's done, as well as Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and Cardiff, plus many more UK cities. For stag groups heading abroad, go karting is also available in resort destinations including Benalmadena and Marbella. Both formats give the stag party a proper motorsport feel without needing any previous racing experience.
