How to Enter the Proposal Competition
Past Monthly Competition Winners
Its great to hear how people got engaged, read the previous winners stories and see how are artists captured the moment in a cartoon. Some are recently engaged couples but what a great wedding anniversary present.
Winner July 2019 - A Turtlely Amazing Proposal
We love anything animal related and this proposal was exactly that! Ami had a passion for turtle protection having worked at a rescue group, and her now fiance Jeff was inspired by this for his epic proposal on the beach!
Ami thought she was going to be filming for a sea turtle documentry on showing how they count the turtle eggs. As Ami was talking to the camera she noticed in the corner of her eye Jeff standing there with a sign saying "Will you marry me?"
Winner June 2019 - Ellie's Prior Park Engagement
We love a good proposal as much as the next person and Ellie’s story definitely took the top spot and became our June winner. Her now fiancé Chris whisked her away on a surprise trip to Bath where they spend a few days together.
One thing they had to do was go to Prior Park as it was an extremely sunny day in May. As they walked through the park they ended up at the famous Palladian Bridge. In the middle of the bridge Chris turned and got on one knee to pop the question!
Winner May 2019 - An AirBNB Proposal
Here at Funktion we LOVE a well thought out proposal, and Eliza was treated to just that for her engagement story. After moving all the way from Maine to England to be with her now fiancé, he paid back the favour with a proposal to remember.
Thoughtful and romantic, Nik planned a trip to Bath to stay in the exact same airBNB he took Eliza to on their very first date – how cute is that! On the first morning of their second trip to Bath, he rushed her out of bed and Eliza was greeted by a full spread breakfast, champagne and a proposal.
Winner April 2019 - Bethanie’s Bedtime Engagement
Our winners stories come in all shapes and sizes, and Bethanie’s quiet and romantic proposal is definitely one of a kind! Our April winner had a dream of becoming a fiancé before she turned 30, and her boyfriend Gavin didn’t disappoint…
On the very eve of her milestone birthday, Gavin had a plan to as Bethanie was soundly asleep. Just like Cinderella in pink stripy PJ’s, she was woken up to her then boyfriend wishing her a happy birthday with engagement ring in hand!
Winner March 2019 - A Sunny Proposal for Laura
Our March winner Laura had the holiday proposal of her dreams when she was soaking up some sun in Chania, Crete. One that entirely went to plan, her then boyfriend completely surprised her with this lovely proposal.
In the middle of a relaxing family holiday, Ryan took Laura on a romantic walk through the Old Town of Crete, and with the sea and historic landscape in the background he got down on one knee and popped the question!
Winner Feb 2019 - Rob's Christmas Proposal
Our second winner of the competition was Rob, who planned to propose to his girlfriend while on a festive trip to Edinburgh in Christmas 2018. As with a lot of proposal plans, the initial plan didn’t exactly go to plan!
Rob had decided to pop the question atop of Calton Hill during a frosty day in December, but when they arrived at the view point it was packed with tourists and wasn’t as romantic as he had hoped.
Nevertheless, it worked out better than expected as they later went up the same Calton Hill again after dark, it was much quieter and Rob asked the question with Edinburgh all lit up behind them for Christmas! Recently engaged and planning their wedding.
Winner January 2019 - Jay's Chilly Engagement
On the brisk slopes of Tignes in France, our very own Managing Director Jay popped the question to his now wife on the tip top of a glacier, pretty impressive, right?
In the romantic moment, Jay pulled out a huge fake ring to add a funny element to the nerve-wracking moment (he had a shiny real ring back at the chalet) – but then at the critical moment dropped it in the snow! After luckily finding the ring, he asked the all important question, Sharon of course said yes and he left her with the incredible one line…”everything is downhill from here” and took off down the slopes. They got Married in 2013.
