1. Bute Park
Known as being the green heart of Cardiff and a great place to visit during your stay in the city. Bute Park is one of the largest parks in the whole of the UK. Impressive right? The entire park is about 56 hectares…that’s around 75 football pitches! Throughout the year you will find some amazing events taking place from charity walks to fun runs and even the RHS Show. So if you feel like taking in some historic landscapes, woodlands and so much more right in the centre of the city then Bute Park is the place for you.
2. Cardiff Central Market
If you are after a unique shopping experience that’s right in the heart of the city, then the Cardiff Central Market is the place to go. Sitting inside an impressive Victorian building is a market that has been going since the 1700s! You will find local independent producers and businesses offering a range of different products. Whether you’re after some traditional Welsh foods or some vintage clothing everything you are after you will probably find as you make your way around the market.

3. Cardiff Bay
Cardiff Bay is the old Cardiff docklands that have been redeveloped into a now thriving area of the city! There is so much that you could do around Cardiff Bay especially if you have the weather on your side you could easily spend a whole day enjoying yourself. Right in the centre of Cardiff Bay there is a large freshwater lake that is used for a variety of different water sports. 4. Cardiff Castle
If you’re into learning about the heritage of a city, then Cardiff Castle is a great place for you to explore. Soak in all the 2000 years of history as you make your way around the castle. It was once a Roman fort and is now one of the leading heritage attractions in Wales. It’s a Cardiff attraction that you almost have to go and visit during your stay in the Welsh capital. 5. Wales Millennium Centre
If you have ever seen photos of Cardiff one building that is usually photographed is the Wales Millennium Centre. It opened in 2004 and hosts a variety of shows from opera and ballet to comedy and musicals. If you are after experiencing some sort of show or performance whilst you are enjoying your time in Cardiff it could be a good idea to check what’s on! 6. Go Shopping at The Castle Quarter
If you are finished exploring Cardiff Castle don’t head out of the area too soon. The Castle Quarter is a great area of the city if you are wanting to enjoy abit of shopping. The entire quarter is made up of 3 Edwardian and Victorian arcades, Castle Arcade, High Street Arcade and Duke Street Arcade. Throughout all these arcades you will be able to find boutiques, hair salons, nail shops, coffee houses and other amazing eateries along with your well-known brands.
7. National Museum Cardiff
When visiting a new city, it is always good to know if there is a good museum to explore. The National Museum Cardiff is a museum and art gallery that has a wide variety of amazing exhibitions. Whether you’re after seeing some contemporary art or dinosaurs, there is plenty to see and do in the museum. As well as a café and a shop for once you’ve explored everywhere you wanted to, this museum is also free of charge but they do as for a small donation as you enter. 8. Cardiff City Stadium
Any football fans out there? Why not go behind the scenes and experience what it’s like at the Cardiff City Football Club grounds. You will be able to explore with experiences tour guides all around the grounds. Along with going pitch side, visiting the dugout and heading into the changing rooms. It’s a great experience whether you’re into football or not as you see another side to football than you do watching it through the TV screen.
9. Roath Park & Lake
A park that still keeps to the Victorian park atmosphere right in the centre of Cardiff is Roath Park. This beautiful green space is a great area to head to if you want to enjoy a leisurely walk around during a sunny day. There is also a huge lake right in the centre of the park which adds to the picturesque side of this park. Along with a wildflower garden and floral displays throughout the year. You will also find a Victorian glass house that has tropical plants, koi carp and terrapins inside.
10. Cardiff International White-Water Centre
For you thrill seekers out there Cardiff International White-Water Centre is the place to go. Here you will be able to enjoy everything adventurous and water related, you might even be able to try out something new. There is an indoor wave simulator, 250m white water course and so much more around the centre. You’ll be itching to get involved one way or another as soon as you get there.
