Cardiff is a large city on the River Taff, so once you arrive into the centre you will find using the bus network or taxis is the best way to get around. The main shopping centre of St David’s is between Cardiff Central and Queen St railway stations and the main nightlight spot of St Mary Street is only a 4 minute walk from the Central Station.
Here are a few tips that might help you during your party or group event in Cardiff.
- Take the No 6 Baycar bus all-day pass, from the stop outside Wyndham Arcade (23) to Cardiff Bay. Not expensive and a great way to tour the town. They run a circular route from town to the waterfront every 10/15.
- Be careful on match days. Unfortunately there are folk who take the game too seriously and some of the more sports-oriented or budget boozers can be a little drunk and loud.
- If you’re driving from just outside the city, there are Park and Ride schemes available from the east, west and south of the city.
- While cycling is usually a joy in the city, there are one or two roads to avoid if you’re cruising on two wheels. Newport Road, the main trunk route from the east, is the worse.
