Stag Weekend Survival Kit
A stag do can leave most men a little jaded. The morning after the night before can be atough slog for anyone, but we’ve created a handy stag weekend survival kit to get you through.
When it comes to fighting the hangover from hell, water is the ultimate weapon, so make sure you’re stocked up with a few bottles. Waking up to a mouth that’s as dry as a desert is not a pleasant feeling. It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water during the night as well as after, ideally in between each drink. This will leave you feeling fresher in the morning. Make sure you’re drinking water regularly throughout the day, even if you’re not feeling thirsty. It’ll make a world of difference!
Take a packet of painkillers with you, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. If you forget to bring any, both are available over the counter, so if you’re desperate enough you could always stumble into the nearest chemist and pick some up.
If you’re running low or empty on data for your phone, make sure to download the area you’re going to on Google or Apple maps beforehand. That way you’ll be able to see a map of the area even if you don’t have any data left. It might seem overly precautious but you’ll be glad you did if the worst comes to the worst and you end up on the other side of the city with no clue where you are (god forbid).
As well as water, isotonic drinks like Lucozade sport or powerade are good for replenishing lost salts and sugars, giving you more energy to get through the day.
Make sure you get enough to eat. A hearty meal, a fry up for example, is great for replacing fatty acids and breaking down the alcohol in your liver. Eggs especially are useful as they contain taurine and have been shown to actually reverse any liver damage caused by alcohol consumption.
Avoid coffee at all costs! It might seem logical to drink a stimulant when you’re feeling ropey but beware! Coffee is a diuretic which causes your birthday to lose water quickly.
Finally, if you’ve got nowhere to be (lucky you!), get yourself a long shower and sleep it off. Unfortunately, there ain't no cure for a hangover, but the stag weekends survival kit should at least make the slow & painful journey back to sobriety a little easier.
