Places to Eat in Benidorm?

It might not be a huge surprise that the restaurants in Benidorm aren’t vastly traditional or authentic. Benidorm has the flare for home comforts, carbs and British cuisine to satisfy your taste buds. Because this seaside resort is a place where people re-visit, there’s a couple of favourite restaurants worth visiting if it’s your first time. Top of the list has to be Pizzería Duetto on Calle de Londres. Known for cheap eats and big portions, this friendly restaurant is a little outside of the centre but worth the trek. If you’d prefer something more traditionally Spanish that’s central to the city, indulge with the help of Restaurante La Cava Aragonesa. The name is a mouthful and their rich and flavoursome tapas are too!

You don’t need to stick to cheap eats and massive portions on the weekend, eateries like Punto de Sal are proof that you can have a fine dining experience while visiting this tourist trap. Serving modern European food right on the beach, this gastro-restaurant is an experience in itself. For food that close to home and middle of the range when it comes to price, quality and surroundings, GUSTO Benidorm is a staple for holiday-goers, particularly big groups.

Benidorm is mainly known for its superb seafood dishes. This town specialises in its freshly caught fish particularly octopus which they fry in paprika, salt, olive oil and serve with chips. When eating out in Benidorm you are offered a huge range of choices. Most restaurants specialise in fish, seafood and grilled meats although it does cater for a wide range of tastes.

The Square

Dubbed as Benidorm’s English square, you’ll feel right at home as thousands of tourists venture to multiple pubs and bars in this area. As well as being a popular place to stay (especially for groups) The square becomes a giant adult playground after dark. Situated right next to Levante beach, one of the acclaimed bars in this area is RockerFellas, the place to be for live music and cabaret on the weekends. Just next door to RockerFellas you’ll find Bar Why Not for all your karaoke nights.

We know what you’re all thinking – what about Neptune’s Bar? The famous set from the hit series Benidorm is in fact a real place, but with a different theme and name – Morgan’s Tavern. Also found in the square, you can visit this bar and entertainment parlour for a full evening, meal and all. If you want to swap cabaret for prime tribute acts, hop down the road to Talk of the Coast because we’ve heard their Tom Jones tribute is the best in the business.

It’s not all flashy entertainment, singers and brightly-coloured cocktails in Benidorm. If you’d prefer a quieter spot to have a few drinks or your bride to be is a pint-loving gal, there’s plenty of pubs to visit too. It’s an inside joke for us Brits that every town or village has a Red Lion pub, and Benidorm is proof! Similarly you can find an array of Irish pubs dotted around the seaside resort for a pint of Guinness, with the Shamrock Irish pub being a popular choice for holidaymakers in the Spanish sun.

Old Town

A weekend doesn’t have to be solely filled with British in bikinis, if you want a sneaky flavour of Spain then take a trip to the Old Town. The architecture and cobbled streets instantly give a more authentic atmosphere, and in between the winding lanes you’ll find a few pubs and bars to dip in and out of. For wine drinkers find a haven in the underground, stone-built bar Sherry, a hidden gem in the old town. If you’d prefer a more flamboyant atmosphere with a warm welcome just head up the road to Sensations, a hit gay bar in this district of the city.

Just because you’re further away from the square doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of little bars with a British flare. You can find pints of beer and lager for 1 euro each in pubs like Marrs Bar and the slightly more upmarket New Fábula bar. The latter bar offers white décor and a place to smoke shisha while you sip on your drinks after the sun goes down. If you want to throw in some dancing and cheesy pop from the 80s, complete your weekend at the People Disco Pub and you won’t be disappointed. Found on Carrer de Santa Faç, it’s a friendly place that’s popular with the LGBTQ+ community to. Top tip – like a lot of bars in the Old Town, the People Disco Pub gets busy after midnight so don’t arrive too early.

Nightclubs in Benidorm

The term nightclubs is thrown around a little differently when in Benidorm, and your average club can be found in many forms around the seaside resort. A perfect example of this is Vincent’s Old Town, which has a pub style venue serving food in the day, karaoke bar and nightclub dancing until 4am every single night. It might not be flashy or filled with smoke and neon, but it’s definitely fun and popular! On a similar vein, Casino Mediterraneo Benidorm may not be a traditional nightclub, but it’s also open until 4am serving drinks, games and casino croupiers to punters.

For a true last night of freedom that will make the girls proud, Benidorm has you covered. This Spanish seaside city refers to it’s late-night clubbing as ‘disco pubs’, spilling out onto the street and entertaining the crowds until as early as 8am the next morning! Two popular places that can end your night on a high are Hippodrome and the Bahamas disco pub, both on opposite sides of the street for easy access and selling cheap as chips drinks all year round.

How to Get Around Benidorm?

Benidorm has been a popular tourists destination for decades upon decades, meaning the city has evolved over time for accessible transport at great prices. Conveniently, the seaside resort is small enough to explore by foot if your accommodation is situated centrally. Most of the city is pedestrianised so you can find all the hidden gems in the old town and stroll your way to and from Llevant beach at ease. When travelling between Alicante and Benidorm, the cheapest and easiest way of transportation is the Alicante tram – especially if you’re looking to do a day trip away from the city centre.

As well as the tram, the bus service running around Benidorm stands out from the crowd for being excellent. Most of the buses running around the city are clean and new, keeping strictly to schedules and running most days all year round. Bus tickets are just a few euros and you can find bus stops dotted all around the city, including outside most hotels and complexes.
