1. Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre
Hosted by Storyhouse, a new theatre that’s a shining addition to the city, the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is a truly unique experience that’s a great hour or two of traditional laughs and fun. 2. Chester Races
One of the most popular tourist attractions in the sunny months, the Chester Races is an epic day out whether you’re celebrating or not. Get your best suit on, place your bets and enjoy the sheer buzz of horse racing in one of the finest race courses across the UK. 3. Moonlight Flicks
If you’re a film buff, why not enjoy the beauty of the Roman Gardens in Chester’s original open-air cinema? Similar to the open-air theatre, this Chester event runs from the 5th July to the 26th August to give you a multitude of options for hit films and cult classics. Bring your own booze, pack a deck chair and have a chilled-out evening doing something a little different.
4. Brewhouse & Kitchen Events
Events? In a pub? You heard us right! The Brewhouse and kitchen is right in the centre of the cobbled streets, and adds it’s on edge with regular, beer-related events taking place throughout the year. In it’s rather large venue you can find themed nights, meet the brewer opportunities and gen masterclasses to enjoy. 5. Music Hall Tap Events
Music Hall Tap is a quirky little venue right next to the picturesque Godstall Lane is a hit with groups who want a few beers without breaking the bank. They hold a conveyer belt of different events, mostly centred around football games on their big screens and comfortable chairs. You can book your seats before you arrive so you get a good view of the game, and the venue is right in the centre so you can move onto other bars before and after with ease. 6. The Live Rooms
Chester’s largest independent live music venue, this is the hub for all things good music! Comprised of 2 rooms and a balcony area, you can catch a bunch of live bands on every weekend, plus events for all different genres of music like house, funk and soul and rock. 7. Pride in Chester
It comes around every year and paints the town rainbow for a full day and evening! Pride is held in most cities across the UK, and Chester is no exception. An event that usually occurs in August, it’s a great way to not only show your solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, but also immerse yourself in culture, parades and live shows. From drag queens to glitter and a fantastic amount of after parties in the surrounding bars and clubs, it’s a great event – especially if you’re celebrating.
8. Christmas Markets
Are you heading to Chester during the festive season? Don’t miss the humble Christmas markets near Rufus Court. These little wooden huts are sure to fill you with Christmas spirits, offering the traditional stalls like sweets, a hog roast and mulled wine to warm your cockles. Opening on November 16th and running up until 22nd December, you’ve got plenty of time to check it out and get in the jolly mood.
