Our Pub Treasure Hunt has taken the best bits of our city Treasure Hunts and combined it with a Pub Crawl and Pub Quiz to create the perfect after work team event, stag or hen activity, birthday party or just something to do with a group of friends!

The Pub SMS Treasure Hunt offers a very cost-effective activity for your group with no minimum numbers.

We have split our cities up into six zones, with each zone containing a treasure hunt question, a pub based question and three pub quiz questions. The treasure hunt question will occupy you between pubs, the pub based question will lead you to a particular pub to reveal some information, and the three pub quiz questions will give you something to test your brains whilst you have a drink! The Pub Quiz questions in each Zone have a different theme to test your knowledge (Sport, History, Geography, Science & Technology, Nature and Entertainment) so choose your team mates wisely!

Aim of the Pub SMS Treasure Hunt

The aim of the Pub SMS Treasure Hunt is simple - you and your team mates have to complete all six zones in a bid to be the quickest team to reveal the six digits Master Code. There is only one rule...you must take a photo in each pub of your team mates having a drink together! The rest is up to you!

You will also have ten items to collect on your way around to earn Bonus Time.

How does the Text Messaging Work?

• The SMS Pub Treasure Hunt uses state-of-the-art text messaging technology to allow the event to be self-run, offering you maximum flexibility and putting you in control.
• The text messaging feature allows you to:
• Enter the game.
• Create an amusing Team Name.
• Request up to two lifelines for those clues that you just cannot crack!
• Verify your six digit Master Code.
• Confirm your official finishing time so that you can see which team has won.
• The Pub SMS Treasure Hunt offers a very cost-effective activity for your group with no minimum numbers.

Prior to your Event

The group leader (the end user who has booked the event) will be posted their SMS Pub Treasure Hunt approximately two weeks prior to the event. The SMS Pub Treasure Hunt will contain a ‘Team Pack’ for each team consisting of instructions, maps, question sheets, scavenger list, a scratch card answer sheet and a six digit ‘User Code’ which is unique to their group.

The Day of your Event

On the day of the event, the group will need to divide themselves up into teams of up to five participants, with each team receiving a ‘Team Pack’. Each team will nominate a captain who will need to text the six digit ‘User Code’ using the text number provided. This will set off a chain of automated text messages which will ‘manage’ your event and ultimately confirm whether you have successfully completed the Pub challenge!

There are six coloured zones to complete (example pictured left), with each zone allocated a double sided sheet containing a Treasure Hunt question, a Pub-related question and three Pub Quiz questions. The Treasure Hunt question will be based around a key landmark or interesting feature in that zone. The Pub-related question is directly linked to information about the nominated pub in that zone. The three Pub Quiz questions will test your knowledge of Sport, History, Geography, Science & Nature, Entertainment and General Knowledge.

Each Zone will ultimately reveal one digit of the six digit Master Code which will need to be matched and then scratched off from the scratch card Answer Sheet (pictured left). Once each Zone is completed and the six digit Master Code revealed, the team captain will need to text straight away to the text number given. The team will receive a reply congratulating them on finishing the Treasure hunt and confirming their Finishing Time. If the six digit Master Code is incorrect, then they will have one more opportunity to check their answers and text in the correct code.

Additional Notes

• We recommend that you allow 2 - 3 hours for the actual Treasure Hunt, with timings dependant on how competitive and fit you are, and how well you plan your route! Due to the flexibility of the SMS Pub Treasure Hunt, you can start at a time to suit yourself! However, please bear in mind that you will need access to the six pubs listed in the six Coloured Zones. It is therefore advised that you undertake the Pub Challenge between the hours of 12noon and 11pm.
• The drinks are not included, you will need to buy your own drinks
• Group Sizes and Team Packs - Groups of 5-10 will receive 2 packs / Groups of 10-15 receive 3 packs / Groups of 15-20 receive 4 packs etc…
• Each team will need a fully charged mobile phone to use for texting.
• Everything is set up for you, so all you need is a fully charged mobile phone for each team and you are ready to go!
• The interactive text messaging requirement of this hunt is FREE (for UK phones in the UK) - so you will not receive any unwanted or extortionate charges. Mobile roaming charges may apply for overseas phones or non UK phones.
• Suitable footwear and clothing is advisable.
